Welcome Hope, Welcome Vaccine

Last January 18th, at 709 meters above sea level, in the middle of one of the largest urban forests in the world. We see no better place to start the vaccination against covid- 19: At the feet of Christ the Redeemer, the greatest symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro, icon of Brazil and one of the seven wonders of the modern world. It is worth remembering that Brazil has two of the most respected research and development institutions in biological sciences: Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, which formed a partnership with AstraZeneca (Oxford vaccine) and Instituto Butantã in São Paulo, partnership with Sinovac (vaccine coronavac – Chinese). Both vaccines will be produced in Brazil.
Thanks to SUS, the only health care system, Brazil has the expertise in mass vaccination, without the need for a private network.
In 2010, Brazil vaccinated 80 million people against H1N1 in three months. In a single day, the PNI (National Immunization Program) manages to vaccinate 10 million children against polio. It is the only country in the world that has this capacity.
With this experience and the vaccine already being applied to the population, soon we will have better conditions for our new visitors.
